Digital Process Manufacturing Centre
Helping UK manufacturing process industries to embrace digital, innovate and grow
We’re developing an NMIS specialist technology centre in collaboration with North Ayrshire Council, the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) and the High Value Manufacturing Catapult’s Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) at i3 in North Ayrshire, helping to transform the region’s industrial landscape and shape the digital future of the UK’s process industries.
From robotics to 5G, analytics and using the cloud, the Digital Process Manufacturing Centre will allow you to explore and demystify Industry 4.0 within a controlled environment, allowing you to innovate your processes and see real-world productivity gains.
The centre is due to open later in 2022 but we are already offering free courses and workshops to help you develop your digital know-how through the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy.
Who we are
The Digital Process Manufacturing Centre blends the commercial expertise and technical capabilities of the NMIS Group along with our strategic partners North Ayrshire Council, the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) and the High Value Manufacturing Catapult’s Centre for Process Innovation (CPI).
Working together we are supporting the process and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries while strengthening industrial ties and research expertise.
What we offer the process industries
The Digital Process Manufacturing Centre (DPMC) will demonstrate, develop and deliver digital technology to support the UK’s process manufacturing industries including pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, food and drink, chemicals, water and fast-moving commercial goods.
These industries can all improve their productivity, compliance, and carbon footprint with the help of new and emerging digital technologies.
A digital demonstration laboratory
The DPMC will offer hands-on experience of Industry 4.0 technology to support your adoption of digital to improve management decision-making and drive business performance. Housed within 650m2 of research space, expect demos of control systems, manufacturing execution systems, operational technologies, augmented and virtual reality, paperless systems, training, performance management, data visualisation and more.
A space for industry engagement
The new centre will include a meeting space for networking and collaboration. Here we’ll create opportunities for companies to share best practice, see real-world applications of digital strategies and connect with potential industry partners for R&D projects and building consortiums in response to funding calls.
Leadership and digital strategy development
Key to the development and successful implementation of a digital strategy is building knowledge and confidence in leaders to drive the required culture change and organisational development. At the DPMC we’re providing education, training and support as well as stimulating networking across local leadership teams.
Training the next generation of workers
Our partners are ideally placed to help businesses tap into skills and training support from the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy, the University of Strathclyde and other relevant funding programmes and enterprise agencies – helping to futureproof the process industries and their workers.
Free courses and workshops
Our free online and in-person training courses will help you develop in-demand skills required for Scotland’s emerging markets, such as digital and green technology.
Technical capabilities and expertise at the DPMC
In response to the business needs of the process manufacturing sector, the DPMC will offer the expertise and equipment to support industry to overcome challenges and grow.
