NMIS internships 2022
Applications open for college internships

Gain invaluable experience and enhance your technical expertise with our 12-week summer intern programme.
The NMIS undergraduate internship programme will run from Monday 13 June to Friday 2 September 2022. Successful applicants will work at our specialist technology centre, the Advanced Forming Research Centre, and the programme will provide insight into a research and manufacturing environment, while providing you with skills that will help enhance your future career.
Some of our previous interns have gone on to secure graduate jobs at BAE, Rolls-Royce, Babcock, and the AFRC or chosen to complete an EPSRC funded EngD.
The 2022 internship programme will operate as a hybrid working model, with time spent both on-site and at home.
We encourage you to work independently and as part of teams, which provides opportunities to develop your communication and leadership skills.
You will also gain valuable project management skills through collaborating with multinational organisations and receiving on-the-job training with a structured system to learn new skills, which will significantly enhance your CV.
Depending on your project, you work with our world-class technology.

I left my AFRC internship with increased confidence, skill and expertise due to the self-led project and support provided by staff. This opportunity allowed me to interact with many different companies such as Rolls-Royce. I was delighted when I was invited back to continue working at the AFRC on a flexible part-time basis
Erin Caldwell
Quality Intern, 2017

I was given a state-of-the-art industrial project to work on during my internship at the AFRC. The best thing about the internship is having the freedom to develop your own research idea and design your experiment to test it. Staff at the AFRC are experts in their field so it was great to learn from them too. This year, I am now looking forward to starting my EngD at the AFRC.
